Representatives from Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA), Comal Trinity Groundwater Conservation District (CTGCD), Texas Water Company (TWC) and New Braunfels Utilities (NBU) will discuss current drought conditions and conservation strategies 8:30 a.m. Thursday (April 17) at Comal County Commissioners Court, 100 Main Plaza, New Braunfels.

The groups also will share with commissioners information about water supply and planning.

The presentation is scheduled during the court’s workshop agenda.

“I am looking forward to hearing from the leadership of each of these organizations,” said Pct. 1 Commissioner Doug Leecock, who represents the south side of Canyon Lake and organized the presentation. “I think the community will greatly benefit from the facts that each of these organizations will be providing.

“I consider it imperative that we have updates from these organizations on a regular basis to effectively communicate the facts to the community during this extreme drought.”

The meeting is open to the public.

  1. So I attended the Commissioner meeting and the water agenda. Sure, ppl got to speak on any topic at the beginning of the workshop agenda as that is the first item, ppl’s comments. But 2 or 3 items later is when the entities spoke and gave their slide dog and pony show, but not questions could be asked AT THAT TIME to any of the speakers. One woman wanted to ask a presenter a question and was told they will not answer any questions… at least not the tough question that the public would likely ask. On these important issues and other issues, the public should be able to ask 1 question from a speaker at the time of that presentation as to question their accuracy. GBRA appear to say Canyon Lake was built to store water for public use. Actually the primary function of Canyon Dam is to provide flood relief.
