Members of Comal ISD’s award-winning Bass Fishing Club were honored by trustees Thursday.

For the third consecutive year, the club was named Hill Country Region School District Champion and six anglers advanced to the state tournament in May.

The six who competed at the state level included Caleb Gibbons and Brody Henderson from Canyon Lake High School, Tyson House and Alejandro Rodriguez from Pieper High School, and Braxton Alexander and Cade Dornburg from Smithson Valley High School.

Alexander and Dornburg finished in the top 10 for the title of Hill Country Anglers of the Year.

The Comal ISD Bass Fishing Club is part of the district’s Intramural Sports program and is open to all high school students.

The club, which began four years ago and is getting ready to celebrate its fifth year in the district, competes in tournaments sponsored by the Texas High School Bass Association throughout the school year.
