The Comal County Clerk’s Office earned a five-star rating from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) in December 2023 for going “above and beyond” the ordinary duties of birth and death registration.

Staff met all state criteria for the Five Star Service Award by attending trainings throughout the year, registering 100% of birth and death records within one business day, and enacting “outstanding security measures” for the Remote Access Birth System.

“My office understands the importance of registering birth and death records here in Comal County,” County Clerk Bobbie Koepp said in a statement Friday. “They work very hard to meet the criteria that the state requires. I am so proud of them for achieving this award. This award is the highest you can receive here in the State of Texas. Each of them deserves the recognition and I’m so thankful to our team for always going above and beyond for our community.”
