County Confirms COVID-19 Deaths of Two Canyon Lake Residents, Reports 101 New COVID-19 Cases

Comal County reported three deaths and 101 new COVID-19 cases today.

Dead are:

  • A Canyon Lake woman in her 80s who died from the virus Feb. 20 at a New Braunfels hospital.
  • A Canyon Lake man in his 70s who died from the virus Feb. 2 at a San Antonio hospital.
  • A New Braunfels woman in her 40s who died Feb. 13 at a San Antonio hospital.

The total number of deceased is now 524. The total number of cases of COVID-19 reported since March 2020 is 29,916.

Today’s numbers reflect data collected by the Public Health Department over the weekend and Presidents’ Day holiday.

The county reported 41 new cases on Tuesday and 65 cases on Friday.

Today, local hospitals report caring for 16 COVID-19 cases. Of those, seven are in intensive care and three are on ventilators. Approximately 50% of these patients are unvaccinated. Not all COVID-positive patients are necessarily county residents.

Some 63.64% of county residents are fully vaccinated (two shots).

To schedule a vaccine, call 830-221-1150. The Public Health Department is administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for those 18 and older, and Pfizer vaccines for anyone five years and up. Booster vaccines also are available.
