Comal County reopened Canyon Lake Boat Ramp #8 today after the lake rose to 892.71 feet.

However, runoff from the July 4 floods has slowed to a trickle while the drought continues to tighten its grip over south central Texas.

Due to rain forecasts and rising temperatures, the ramp may not stay open for long.

Ramp #8 closes at 892.72 feet.

“At the current level of the lake, this ramp may not be open for long,” said Pct. 1 Commissioner Doug Leecock, former spokesperson for the Canyon Lake Boat Ramps Community Alliance. “However, please safely enjoy it for at least this weekend.”

The boat ramp is located in Canyon Springs Resort, 1298 Canyon Springs Dr.

The county urges boaters to use caution when launching and recovering watercraft. The ramp was closed for an extended period due to drought. While closed, the trailer parking area was improved and a non-trailer parking lot was added.

The county operates nine of the 23 boat ramps serving Canyon Lake.
