County Reports One Death, 315 New Cases, and 52 COVID-19 Hospitalizations on Thursday

Comal County reported 315 new COVID-19 cases Thursday and the death of a New Braunfels man in his 60s, who passed away from the virus at a San Antonio hospital on Jan. 4.

The total number of deceased is now 488. The total number of cases reported in the county since March 2020 is 23,658.

On Thursday, Comal County hospitals reported caring for 52 COVID-19 patients. Of those, nine are in intensive care and two are on ventilators.

Approximately 89% of these patients are unvaccinated.

Some 62.17% of all Comal County residents are fully vaccinated (two shots) against the virus.

Public Health Department advises residents looking for COVID-19 tests to visit meds.tdem.texas.gov.

To schedule a COVID-19 vaccination or booster through the health department call 830-221-1150. The department is administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for those 18 and older and Pfizer vaccines for anyone five years and up.
