Comal County reported a record-breaking 352 new COVID-19 cases today.

Public Information Officer Cary Zayas said this is the highest number of new cases reported in a single day since the county started tracking cases in March 2020. The total number of cases now stands at 22,637. The number of deceased remains 486.

On Monday, Comal County hospitals reported caring for 44 COVID-19 patients. Of those, 10 are in intensive care and three are on ventilators.

Approximately 83% of these patients are unvaccinated. Not all COVID-positive patients hospitalized in the county are necessarily county residents.

Some 61.95% of all county residents are fully vaccinated.

The Public Health Department is administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for those 18 and older, and Pfizer vaccines for anyone five years and older. Booster vaccines also are available.
