Comal County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Kelley wants public input on the county’s Hazardous Mitigation Action Plan (HMAP).

The plan is required by the Federal Emergency Management Act (FEMA) and focuses on reducing the risk to life and property posed by natural events like storms and floods.

“As part of this process, the public will have several opportunities to provide their input on the natural hazards they face and the best ways to potentially mitigate them,” Kelley said.

Public comments can be made by email at kellej@co.comal.tx.us or by completing an HMAP survey posted HERE.

In addition to helping Comal County increase its preparedness in an emergency, a completed HMAP will make the county eligible for additional federal grants for hazard mitigation.
