Twenty-two military veterans die by suicide every day.

To raise awareness about this awful statistic, Comal County’s Public Health Team is taking the #22pushupchallenge three times a day for 22 days.

The viral event was created in 2016 by Honor Courage Commitment, a veteran-focused nonprofit.

The challenge promotes awareness of veteran suicide prevention and honors military service members and veterans.

“The 22 push-up challenge has brought our coworkers together to draw attention to the high number of veteran suicides and to raise awareness for those suffering from mental illness,” said Public Health Communications Specialist Jennifer Conger.
