Dangerous Flood Wave Moving Down the Guadalupe River Expected to Reach Canyon Lake, Spring Branch around 4 p.m.

The U.S. National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio warns some rivers and and streams are expected to experience multiple crests. This can create a false sense of security, as rivers are likely to experience a brief recession before the next flood wave arrives. Comal County spokesperson Cary Zayas warns the dangerous flood wave moving down the Guadalupe River west of Canyon Lake is expected to reach Canyon Lake, Spring Branch, Guadalupe River State Park and Honey Creek State Natural Area around 4 p.m. today, July 16.

These areas are expected to see flash flooding, she posted on social media at 11 a.m. today.

The U.S. National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio has issued a flash flood warning for Central Comal County until 10:15 p.m.

Swimming, tubing, kayaking, and other recreation are strongly discouraged.

Debris in the river is extremely dangerous.
