Robbi Boone, killed in an April 2017 car crash at the age of 75, was the six-year chairwoman of the Comal Democratic Pary and community activist who worked to build voter turnout.

“The thrust of our effort (in Comal County) has been to get people out to vote,” Boone, a former teacher, told the San Antonio-Express News in 2014.  “I think (potential Democratic candidates) feel right now this is a Republican voting district, and they’ll wait until their opportunities (to get elected) are better.”

She was preceded in death by husband Dan Boone, who died in December 2016 from cancer.

Dan Boone ran in 2012 for the U.S. House and in 2014 the Texas Senate in 2014. He lost both races.
