Heads up, Comal County.

If you receive text messages pretending to be from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (Texas DMV), don’t click or send money. Do not respond or share personal information.

They’re a scam.

The Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office said neither it nor the Texas DMV contacts drivers about traffic violations or fines via unsolicited text messages.

The state does not administer toll roads or issue traffic citations or collect fees via text message.

Anyone with questions about vehicle registration, titles, or other motor vehicle services should call the tax assessor-collector at 830-221-1353.

Report suspicious messges to the FBI at www.ic3.gov.
