The public is invited to enjoy turkey and all the trimmings at three free community Thanksgiving dinners in Canyon Lake and Fischer.
Hundreds are expected at VFW Post 8573’s 25th Annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner, the Dam Red Barn’s Community Buffet, and Cowboys for Jesus’ Gratitude Outreach Thanksgiving Dinner, sponsored by Celebrate Recovery.
Sattler VFW
VFW Post 8573, 14625 River Rd., Canyon Lake, invites the community to its 25th Annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23.
On the menu are turkey, dressing, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, sweet potatoes/yams, dinner rolls, desserts and pie.

Dam Red Barn
Last year, the popular bar and grill served over 200 people for Thanksgiving.
This year Dam Red Barn hosts a free community buffet from 5-9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20. Pets on leashes are welcome. The menu includes brisket enchilada casserole, green chili chicken casserole, Spanish rice, borracho beans, refried beans, tamales, chicken taquitos, tortilla soup and a few other delicious dishes. Desserts will be served.
The venue needs donations of tortillas, corn, flour, paper plates, plastic ware, napkins, disposable cups, rice, beans, tamales and desserts. To make a donation call Dayna Robison at 210-608-0758 or email daynarobison@yahoo.com.

Cowboys for Jesus
The church celebrates recovery and reminds residents there’s no need to be alone for the holiday. A Gratitude Outreach Thanksgiving Dinner is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23. The church is located at 8400 FM 32, Fischer.
