How bad is the water situation in drought-stricken Canyon Lake and Comal County?

Four of the major players with direct oversight of the most precious resource in South Central Texas will explain what they’re doing to keep the water flowing at 2nd Water Workshop, 8:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16 at the weekly meeting of Comal County Commissioners Court, 100 Main Plaza, New Braunfels.

The meeting in the historic courthouse is expected to be packed. Residents also can watch live at ComalCounty.gov. The meeting will be recorded and archived on the site.

“Without question, water continues to be a critical concern for the residents of Comal County,” said Precinct 1 Commissioner Doug Leecock, who represents Canyon Lake on the court. “I am looking forward to the presentations by the leadership of the Comal Trinity Groundwater Conservation District, the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority, New Braunfels Utilities and the Texas Water Company, of whom will provide facts and valuable insight related to our vital water supply.”

Comal County remains in severe drought complicated by rapid population growth and record-low water levels in Canyon Lake, a major water supply for the region.
