The grand opening of Below the Belt Services, 7796 FM 2673, Canyon Lake (between Subway and Pink Elephant), is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday.
The business is co-owned by Dustin and Lora Smith, Canyon Lake residents who opened a mobile “concierge” boat-detailing service in August 2020.
They still plan to make personal visits to marinas to set up and gas boats in addition to detailing boats and delivering food as part of their turnkey services.
The Smiths are certified, professional, insured detailing-and-ceramic-coating specialists servicing boats, classic, exotic and luxury cars as well as motorcycles.
“Think of it like big boy toys,” Lora Smith said. “Toys for 40- or 50-year-old men who are midlife-crisising it. We also do Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Corvettes. We’re adding cars and motorcycles because they are easy to do. It kind of goes with the whole toy thing. The boats, fancy cars and motorcycles kind of all go together.”
Dustin Smith is planning a sophisticated light show for the grand opening, and Lora said it’s possible he might do more than just one giveaway.
She said right after they decided to seek more-permanent facilities the new building they’ve just moved into came onto the market.
“It was that quick,” she said. “It was that easy. It was perfect.”
