Comal County reported two COVID-19 deaths, 60 hospitalizations and 305 new cases of the virus today.

Some 24,328 cases have been reported in Comal County since March 2020. The total number of deceased is 490. Approximately 62.29% of county residents are fully vaccinated (two shots).

Today’s numbers are from Friday, county Public Information Officer Cary Zayas said.

A Bulverde woman in her 80s died at home of the virus on Dec. 31. A New Braunfels man in his 70s passed away on Jan. 13 at a New Braunfels hospital.

Of those hospitalized, 12 are in intensive care and five are on ventilators. Approximately 66% of these patients are unvaccinated. Not all COVID-positive patients in Comal County are necessarily county residents.

Texas’ positivity rate on Monday was 34.5%.

Zayas said county residents who are looking for COVID-19 tests should visit Texas’ Division of Emergency Management’s website, meds.tdem.texas.gov.

The Public Health Department is administering Moderna vaccines for those 18 and older and Pfizer vaccines for anyone aged five and up. Booster vaccines also are available.
