A ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new metal sculpture of Texas is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25 at the Welcome to Canyon Lake & the Guadalupe River welcome/rest area on FM 306.

“This striking piece of public art is dedicated to you, the community that makes Canyon Lake such a special place to live, visit and protect,” said Keep Canyon Lake Beautiful, a nonprofit which partners with the Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORD) to focus on litter prevention, beautification and waste reduction in the Canyon Lake area.

On social media, KCLB described the artwork as a symbol of community pride, natural beauty, and commitment to keeping Canyon Lake beautiful.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) began installation of two works by Canyon Lake metal artist Margie Bivens in June. The project was funded by a 2021 TxDOT grant.
