Canyon Lake resident Doug Leecock prevailed in Tuesday’s Republican primary runoff election for Precinct 1 Comal County commissioner.

He beat Joyce Yannuzzi, district director for state Sen. Donna Campbell, by 908 votes.

The final tally was 1,928 to 1,020 votes.

He faces Democrat Julie Sanders in the Nov. 4 general election.

On Facebook, Yannuzzi thanked supporters and congratulated Leecock on his victory.

“I am confident he will do a fine job as commissioner and I ask for everyone to get behind him to ensure the court stays red,” she said.

  1. Thank you, Stephanie Johnson~

    I appreciate your journalism style.

I’m very concerned about Comal County’s registered voters’ apathy in elections that affect them directly.

Just wanted to remind you that a few of us ‘readers’ are still out here!
