Comal County Precinct 4 Commissioner Jen Crownover will host U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Lake Manager Brett Mazey and WORD of Comal County Operations Manager Wes Walker from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4 at Canyon Lake Fire/EMS Station 51, 1074 Scissortail.

USACE owns and operates Canyon Lake, which was constructed for flood control but is a major tourist destination, attracting over a million visitors each year.
Mazey is a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant corporal who also served as a board member of the Canyon Lake Dam Community Alliance prior to his current assignment.
Responsibilities include recreation management, environmental stewardship, natural resources, shoreline management, flood risk management, volunteer and partnership programs, and real-estate management programs.
WORD collects taxes from water-related businesses and uses them to improve and maintain public access to Canyon Lake and the Guadalupe River.
The governmental entity operates Comal, Canyon, Cranes Mill and Nichol’s Landing parks.
Responsibilities include keeping parks clean, providing law enforcement and emergency services, and sponsoring community outreach programs.
WORD oversees recreational facilities in Canyon Lake and over 30 miles of floatable water on the Guadalupe River above and below Canyon Lake.
