How far is the walk across the top of Canyon Lake’s dam?

The Dam Community Alliance (DCA) noticed the question popping up on social media a lot and decided to answer it for the walkers who routinely exercise there and the visitors who enjoy the spectacular view from the dam’s service road.

“One of our board members brought up the idea, and we all jumped on it,” said Comal County Pct. 4 Commissioner Jen Crownover. “The red markers indicate mileage from North Park side (there and back) and green markers will do the same from the Overlook (Park) side. So either way you enjoy the dam you can keep up with how far you go without having a smart watch.”

Installation is still underway. New signs explaining rules and mileage markers also will be added.

Part of the DCA’s mission is to improve and enhance accessibility for residents and visitors at the lake.
