Due to heavy rains, access to the Comal River inside New Braunfels city limits is temporarily closed by order of New Braunfels police.

Recreation on the Guadalupe River inside city limits is not affected, but city officials urge caution and the use of life jackets for any water recreation activity.

City officials will reevaluate river conditions to determine when river recreation can resume.

The U.S National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio today issued a Flash Flood Warning and a general Flood Advisory for Comal and Guadalupe counties until 6 p.m.

Fire and police officials with the City of New Braunfels have prepared flood response vehicles, including swift-water rescue boats, should they become necessary.

The Comal County Sheriff’s Office advises residents to exercise caution when driving. Low-water crossings may become impassable, and quick rises in small creeks and streams are possible.

As of 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 20, there are no road closures in the Canyon Lake area. Click here for real-time road closures.
