New Braunfels Police Department (NBPD) will add patrols on city streets and along IH-35 beginning Friday and running through July 7 as part of a grant-funded initiative to keep drunk drivers off area roadways.

The “impaired driving mobilization” is underwritten by the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) Selective Traffic Enforcement Program.

The program supports a statewide Drink, Drive, Go to Jail campaign aimed at saving lives by reducing the number of driving-while-intoxicated-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities, NBPD said on social media.
