Why will I be marching at the No Kings Nationwide Day of Defiance, June 14, 2025, mass protest in San Antonio?
My heart is saddened by seeing migrant farm workers being chased across strawberry fields in California by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and watching children in various states being tied in zip ties and deported.
According to U.S. Senate committee hearings, 10 American citizens have been deported, one being a child who was undergoing cancer treatment.
Witnessing the defunding of children’s cancer research is gutwrenching while small businesses are being bankrupted by tariffs, and efforts to destroy Social Security benefits and Medicare are ongoing.
Foreign students are being told to leave this country for no reason.
U.S. Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon is on a mission to destroy the Education Department, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem has been asked to resign due to her inability to tell the truth, or even answer a yes or no question without filibustering.
Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy Jr., known for his history of opposing vaccinations, in my opinion, is personally responsible for contributing to the deaths of two children in Texas who died for not being immunized against measles.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has slashed 83,000 jobs, while U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has just issued orders for the National Guard to be sent to Los Angeles, when he has no legal authority to do so.
There are so many other issues involving President Donald Trump using the federal government as his playground and sending his minions out to wreak havoc.
He acts as though he can do whatever he pleases due to having control of both houses of the U.S. Congress and the majority of the U.S. Supreme Court.
Even so, we are still a democracy and peaceful protests are protected by the First Amendment.
People hold the power and we must use it to bring about a positive change to combat the ongoing turmoil we have seen in 2025.
