Pick a Park at Canyon Lake for Father’s Day Celebrations

Take Dad to a park at Canyon Lake for Father’s Day.

Cranes Mill, Canyon and Comal parks are open for outdoor adventures of all kinds.

Water Oriented Recreation of Comal County (WORD) operates these parks and suggests:

Cranes Mill Park, 16700 Cranes Mill Rd., for fishing or kayaking. Boat Ramp #10 is available to launch kayaks, canoes, and SUPs. No motorized vessels allowed. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, borrow poles and bait for free. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per vehicle with Comal County registration sticker and $20 per non-Comal County registered vehicle. No entry past 6 p.m.

Canyon Park, 1769 Canyon Park Rd., for boating or hiking trails. Boat Ramp #18 is available for launching motorized vessels and a courtesy dock is available for convenience. The Shell Beach (Area 2), located right next to jet ski rentals, is a great spot to relax and enjoy the water. The Water Bridge is an iconic park destination. Before you dive in, remember that rocky shorelines and underwater terrain can be slippery. Sturdy water shoes are highly recommended for exploring and swimming. Park hours are 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily. Admission is $5 per vehicle with Comal County registration sticker and $20 per non-Comal County registered vehicle. No entry past 6 p.m.

Comal Park, 1178 Comal Park Rd. for enjoying the beach or barbecue. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per vehicle with Comal County registration sticker and $20 per non-Comal County registered vehicle. No entry past 6 p.m.

Parks may close at capacity. Check social media for updates.

Grilling guidelines:

All three parks feature picnic sites and charcoal grills. Just bring your own charcoal and grilling tools. Personal propane grills are welcome. Personal charcoal grills are not permitted.
