Pre-Trial Hearing for CHS Teacher Charged with Sexual Assault of Student Set for Monday

Thirty-four-year-old Emily Anderson was a Special-Ed inclusion support teacher at Canyon High School.

A pre-trial hearing for a Canyon High School teacher charged with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old student is set for 9 a.m. Monday in Judge Bruce Boyer’s 22nd District Court.

According to court records a trial date has not been set.

Emily Marie Anderson, 34, was arrested Aug. 16, 2021, after an ongoing investigation by New Braunfels Police Department detectives. She was released on a $50,000 bond.

She faces second-degree felony charges of sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between an educator/student.

If convicted she could face between two to 20 years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000.

Comal ISD spokesperson Steve Stanford said Anderson was a Special-Ed inclusion support teacher and assistant cheer sponsor hired for the 2020-21 school year.

The hearing was reset from Aug. 29.
