Property Tax Workshop to Review Laws, Appraisal Process and Protests

Comal County Tax Assessor-Collector Kristen Hoyt and Comal County Appraisal District Chief Appraiser Jeffrey Booker will host a property tax workshop 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at the Comal County Sheriff’s Office Feller Room, 3005 W. San Antonio St., New Braunfels.

The appraisal district’s Taxpayer Liaison Officer Kurt Andersen-Vie also will speak.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Property owners in Comal County who recently received or have online access to their 2025 property-tax appraisal have until May 15 to protest.

The workshop will review property tax laws in Texas, the appraisal process, property owners’ rights to protest appraisal values, tax cuts, deadlines, and more.

  1. I would like to encourage all property owners to protest their property taxes and site the low level of Canyon Lake for reductions in their property appraisal. Less tax revenue can encourage the county to put pressure on the GBRA to reduce the amount of water it sells (90,000 acre feet or 25%) per year. The GBRA mismanaged lake Dunlap and they are mis managing Canyon Lake.
