A Red Flag Warning is in effect for Canyon Lake and all of south-central Texas until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The U.S. National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio said winds are out of the northwest today at 15 to 25 mph with wind gusts as high as 40 mph. Following the passage of an overnight Pacific cold front, the relative humidity could be as low as 16%.

A Red Flag Warning means critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly.

A combination of strong winds, relative low humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Any wildfires ignited could spread rapidly and unpredictably. The public is asked to avoid planned burning and limit activities prone to producing sparks.
