As temperatures rose above freezing Saturday, thawing frozen pipes, water levels fell at SJWTX water-storage tanks and facilities.

Conditions are beginning to stabilize and recover, and no critical shortages are anticipated, SJWTX said in a letter to regional leaders today.

Customers are asked to check pipes, appliances and areas in and around their homes for possible water leaks.

Businesses and commercial establishments are asked to check their locations also to identify possible water loss due to leaks.

“As in the 2019 Winter Storm Uri, customer-side water leaks were a primary cause of out-of-water conditions after power was restored to our water production facilities,” said SJWTX Service and Communications Manager Larry Jackson. “We are hoping the customers, both residential and commercial, can take preventative and remedial action to avert any additional water loss.”

SJWTX crews are on standby and to investigate any out-of-water reports over the Christmas holidays.
