Soggy Week Predicted but Canyon Lake Parks Will Stay Open ‘Rain or Shine’

Much-needed rain is in the forecast for the Canyon Lake-area through Memorial Day on Monday May 25, but popular lakeside parks will remain open regardless of the weather.

The U.S. National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Comal County from the evening of Friday, May 22 through Monday night.

Daily hours of operation for Cranes Mill and Comal parks are 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. with last entry at 6 p.m. Canyon Park will be open from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. with last entry at 6 p.m.

Boat Ramp #18 at Canyon Park is the only public ramp still open to the public. Canyon Lake Boat Ramp #19 remains open but is operated by Canyon Lake Marina, which charges $30 for its use.

Water Oriented Recreation District of Comal County (WORD), which operates the parks, said recent upgrades include a floating bridge with a swimming area and a fishing pier at Canyon Park; improved swimming and kayak launch areas, premium covered picnic sites and sand volleyball at Cranes Mill Park; and a swim beach, covered playground and disc golf at Comal Park.
