Canyon Lake Boat Ramp #1, 579 Skyline Dr., closed Wednesday and will not reopen until July 4 as Comal County road crews begin upgrades to the parking area.
Boat Ramp #2, 2410 Colleen Dr., will close for parking lot construction and improvements on July 9 with an anticipated completion date of July 24.
Boat Ramp #5, 3150 Canyon Lake Forest Dr., will close July 29 for parking area upgrades. The ramp is expected to reopen Aug. 13.
“We’re excited about these much-needed boat ramp projects that have been three years in the making and will be a significant improvement for community access, safety and parking at Canyon Lake,” the Canyon Lake Boat Ramps Community Alliance posted on social media. “Thank you to the Comal County commissioners and to you all for your valuable input in making this happen.”
The next package of county-operated boat ramp and parking-lot improvement projects will include Boat Ramp #7, 2050 Ledgerock Landing, and Boat Ramp #11, 3850 Tanglewood Trl.
These and other improvements to county-operated boat ramps are paid for by $500,00 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds earmarked for boat ramps by the county last year.

All county boat ramps already are closed due to drought. However, up until Wednesday, Boat Ramp #1 was open to recreationalists launching non-motorized vessels like kayaks and paddle boards. Ramps # 2 and 5 also will close to all recreationalists while construction is underway.
The county operates these boat ramps:
1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 22 and 23.
