Thursday: Comal County Reports Deaths of Three Residents, 350 New COVID-19 Cases

Comal County reported 350 new COVID-19 cases today and confirmed the virus-related deaths of three residents.

Dead are:

  • A New Braunfels man in his 70s who passed away Jan. 25 at home.
  • A Canyon Lake woman in her 80s who passed away Jan. 26 at home.
  • A Canyon Lake man in his 80s who passed away Jan. 26 at home.

The total number of deceased is now 504. The total number of cases reported since March 2020 is 28,377. On Wednesday the county reported 303 new cases of COVID-19.

Today, local hospitals report caring for 59 COVID-19 patients. Of those, 14 are in intensive care and nine are on ventilators. Approximately 86% of these patients are unvaccinated. Not all COVID-positive patients hospitalized in Comal County are necessarily county residents.

Some 63% of county residents are fully vaccinated (two shots) against the virus.

To find a COVID testing site, the county suggests residents visit a website managed by the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

To schedule a vaccine with the county’s Public Health Department call 830-221-1150. Call volume is high.

Public Health is administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for those 18 and older, and Pfizer vaccines for anyone five years and older. Booster vaccines also are available.
