Betsey Leitko, Tye Preston Memorial Library’s Youth Services librarian, said she hopes the summer reading program will encourage people to remember to read.

Tye Preston Memorial Library’s (TPML) Summer Reading Program runs from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 3.

Kids of all ages — including white-haired ones — are invited to bring a towel and enjoy a foam party, bounce house, music and much more at the library, 16311 S. Access Rd., Canyon Lake.

Come for the fun and free book bag, but stay for a chance to pick up a reading log to use to keep track of books and magazines read through Aug. 5.  Reading is recorded in 30-minute increments. “Reading” also includes magazines and audiobooks.

Participants can enter to win monthly prize drawings on June 30, July 31, and a grand prize Aug. 7.

This year’s grand prize is an Apple iPad.

No library card is needed. Reading logs are kept on an honor basis.

Besey Leitko, TPML’s Youth Services Librarian, said she hopes the summer reading program will encourage people to remember to read.

“It gets busy in the summer, people forget to slow down and take some time to read,” she said. “Everyone’s excited about the party. It’s a reminder to people that the library’s here and everything’s free, and everyone is always looking for something to do, especially in the summer.
