U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will close Canyon Lake’s iconic Dam Service Road for herbicide application beginning April 19.

The closure is expected to last two days to allow a contractor to stage equipment and apply herbicide. Crews will spray the rip rap and downstream embankment for woody plants and other unwanted vegetation.

USACE anticipates reopening the road on April 21 when crews move equipment off the downstream embankment and the Dam Service Road.

“We understand a large number of people use the Dam Service Road as a place to exercise and walk, including pets enjoying a walk with their owners, take pictures and enjoy being outdoors,” said USACE’s Canyon Lake Manager Javier Perez Ortiz.

USACE sprays the area around the Dam Service Road twice a year.
