The Water Oriented District of Comal County (WORD) hosts the Canyon Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s 25th Anniversary BBQ Cook-Off 2024 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Canyon Park, Canyon Park Rd.
Things could get busy.
The only Canyon Lake boat ramp still open, #18, is in Canyon Park.
Canyon Park opens at 7 a.m. Regular fees apply. Starting at 11 a.m., the entry fee is $10 per vehicle. Proceeds benefit the fundraiser.
Tickets for drinks, raffles, and barbecue samples will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The awards ceremony starts at 4:30 p.m.
WORD urges boaters to use extreme caution at Boat Ramp #18. There are only 21 feet of the ramp still usable, with a steep dropoff of approximately 19 inches at the end of the ramp. Boats with inboard motors or any trailers over 20 feet in length should avoid using the ramp,
