All nine Canyon Lake boat ramps operated by Comal County are now open thanks to a collaboration with WORD of Comal County, Pct. 1 Commissioner Doug Leecock said on social media today.
Boat Ramp #5 in Canyon Lake Forest is back in business.
“The partnership and teamwork with WORD of Comal County and USACE lake management made the opening of all ramps today possible,” he said. “The teamwork and communication of our partners put equipment operators and county resources together to remove materials that blocked these access locations.”
WORD assisted in debris removal localized to boat ramps.
Several boat ramps reopened, then were forced to close over the last two months as debris from July’s heavy rains drifted around the lake.
“As this is a natural body of water, conditions can change and some level of risk is always present,” county spokesperson Cary Zayas said on the county’s Facebook page. “Swimming is at the individual’s discretion, and visitors are encouraged to use good judgment and monitor conditions. Swimming in the boat ramp area is strictly prohibited.”
