Avoid tubers and crowds on July 4 by booking a guided, downriver paddling trip along the Guadalupe River near Sattler.

“We’ll paddle the deepest section on the river where there’s no ton of tubers,” said Karla Held, owner of Central Texas Kayaking/Central Texas River Trips. “We’ll stop for swimming, creek exploring and overall merriment.”

“We’ll start around 2 p.m. so we’ll paddle towards the sunset,” she said.

The trip is $100 for anyone who needs to rent a kayak or paddle board, and $50 per person with their own gear (includes parking/shuttles/takeout fees).
