A crime-prevention specialist with the Comal County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) was arrested today and charged with theft of property and abuse of official capacity.

Spring Branch resident Jakob Willmann, 41, was booked into Comal County Jail and released on a $10,000 bond.

In a statement, New Braunfels Comal County Crime Stoppers said Willmann, its former civilian coordinator, allegedly misappropriated charitable dollars.

“In order to maintain transparency and assuage any fears or concerns the community might have developed due to these events, New Braunfels Comal County Crimestoppers, Inc. has replaced the alleged offender, made other changes to enhance the oversight and management of the reward program, and will be obtaining an audit of the organization’s funds.

“This situation serves as an important reminder that anyone can become a victim of crime, even a charitable organization like Crime Stoppers, and that no one is above the law or immune from criminal responsibility.”

Willmann’s responsibilities at CCSO included warning the public of scams designed to trick individuals or businesses out of money and sensitive personal data.

His alleged criminal activity was investigated by the Texas Rangers. CCSO executed the arrest warrant.

The cases will be submitted to the Comal County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Willlman is accused of stealing property valued at $2,500 or more but less than $30,000 and with abuse of official capacity (false pretenses/swindle/confidence game) worth between $750 and $2,500.
