Loran writes: "We saw this Eastern Blacktail Rattlesnake about 2.5 miles Southeast of Canyon Lake, TX on private property. Was in middle of a road as we drove UTV, then he moved off when we stopped. About 30” long. Full ID: Eastern (Ornate) blacktail rattlesnake (Crotalus ornatus) - venomous." We checked in iNat and there are only 3 sightings of the ornatus in Comal County compared to dozens of the Western diamondback. The tropical disturbance moving through South Texas is expected to give us a high chance of rounds of rain Saturday, primarily 3 AM to 7 PM. Based on some of the late evening model guidance coming in, there is a good chance that showers and storms will become concentrated somewhere across western Bexar, Medina, eastern Uvalde, Bandera, and Kerr counties. Rain and pockets of potential heavy rain will remain possible from early morning into the afternoon hours.
