Loran writes: "We saw this Eastern Blacktail Rattlesnake about 2.5 miles Southeast of Canyon Lake, TX on private property. Was in middle of a road as we drove UTV, then he moved off when we stopped. About 30” long. Full ID: Eastern (Ornate) blacktail rattlesnake (Crotalus ornatus) - venomous." We checked in iNat and there are only 3 sightings of the ornatus in Comal County compared to dozens of the Western diamondback. The tropical disturbance moving through South Texas is expected to give us a high chance of rounds of rain Saturday, primarily 3 AM to 7 PM. Based on some of the late evening model guidance coming in, there is a good chance that showers and storms will become concentrated somewhere across western Bexar, Medina, eastern Uvalde, Bandera, and Kerr counties.
