Texas Democratic Party’s Hispanic Caucus Chair Philip Ruiz is the featured speaker.

Comal County commissioners Doug Leecock, Pct. 1, and Scott Haag, Pct. 2, are the featured speakers at the 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26 meeting of the Republican Club of Comal County.

They will discuss their responsibilities and explain county services.

A social mixer begins at 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

In infested areas, large numbers of tawny crazy ants have caused great annoyance to residents and businesses. In some situations, it has become uncomfortable for residents to enjoy time in their yards. Companion animals may, in some cases, avoid the outdoors as well, and wildlife such as nesting songbirds can be affected.

The cumulative economic impact is currently unknown. The ants were found around Houston in 2002 and have spread.
