According to this article in the Texas Tribune, 36.5% of Canyon Lake residents' water comes from surface water: 35.7% comes from a lake or reservoir, 0.5% comes from a river, and 0.3% comes from other surface water sources. 61.5% of the county's water comes from an aquifer, which is a groundwater source. 2.0% of the water comes from reuse, a process that treats water and recycles it for agricultural and irrigation purposes.
